Announced in January 2020, Woven City is Toyota’s bold vision for a prototype city of the future. I&CO helped define its Purpose, Vision, and Mission in Japanese and English to align diverse stakeholders and articulate what Woven City aims to achieve.

The involvement of diverse stakeholders demanded a new Purpose, Vision, and Mission to clarify Woven City’s aspirations and ensure all members were aligned.

Verbalizing and visualizing the future of Woven City

Verbalizing and visualizing the future of Woven City

I&CO defined a new Purpose, Vision, and Mission, based on existing team values and culture. Through a series of interviews with executives and product owners, I&CO tailored the wording to align with the language specific to Woven City.

We defined the Purpose as Woven City’s enduring reason for being, the Vision as the future it aspires to create, and the Mission as the actions required to get there. To support a smooth internal rollout, we illustrated each concept with intuitive visuals that can be used in various internal settings.

Additionally, I&CO designed a new public site to explain the Woven City initiative. This site ensured that internal and external audiences share a mutual understanding of the initiative.
