After a 60-year pause caused by devastating fires, Meiri Shurui reopened as Takazo Distillery. I&CO partnered with the company to create a new whisky brand that honored its legacy and marked the return of its long-standing craft.

Meiri quietly continued its research during its extended closure, developing new techniques that led to a one-of-a-kind whisky. I&CO saw an opportunity to build a distinctive brand identity that could capture both the distillery’s legacy and its new innovations.

Designing a whisky brand that blends past and present

Designing a whisky brand that blends past and present

I&CO created the naming, label designs, and supporting leaflet for the Takazo REBORN and PURE MALT series, bringing Meiri's new whisky to life.

Inspired by the whisky's aging process in plum wine barrels and its rich, fruity flavor, we introduced the concept of Fruity Craft Whisky. This concept became the foundation for a visual language that blended Japanese tradition with a clean, modern aesthetic suited for global audiences.

We designed each of the three whisky variants to highlight its own unique character while maintaining a cohesive identity that ties the brand together.
