I&CO conceptualized and produced ChooStory, an interactive digital picture book that teaches sustainability in an engaging, age-appropriate way. We also developed hands-on workshops to extend learning beyond the screen, encouraging deeper exploration.

Children as change-makers

Children as change-makers

In Japan, fewer youths believe they can influence environmental, national, and social changes compared to their peers in other countries. In response, we created an opportunity for children to understand that their everyday choices directly impact the future.

WHAT WE DID

Turning every choice into a teachable moment

Turning every choice into a teachable moment

We created Choostory, an interactive digital picture book that empowered children to flip through stories by choosing the protagonist’s actions. With no right or wrong answers, each decision naturally introduced behaviors related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encouraged reflection through its multi-ending format.

Instead of presenting the SDGs as a lesson, we designed the experience to be a playful, immersive story. Illustrated scenes and light game mechanics were designed to keep children engaged while helping them connect abstract ideas to personal choices.

In addition, we launched free workshop materials online, making it easy for families and after-school programs to use Choostory in group settings. We also developed teaching guidelines for classroom use, spreading access and impact for educators and students across Japan.
