Haru Route introduces a hands-on approach to disaster preparedness, helping children internalize evacuation routes by actively placing tape and interacting with uniquely designed signs. The signage uses highly visible, intuitive universal designs to guide children in emergencies, ensuring the routes are easy to follow when needed most.
We integrated the widely recognized disaster safety acronym “O-KA-SHI-MO-CHI” (a Japanese mnemonic for calm evacuation behavior) into the design, promoting disaster awareness in daily life.
The signage is crafted to be immediately understandable in emergencies, featuring colors and visuals accessible to people with various levels of color perception. This ensures the tape functions as a reliable guide for everyone during a crisis.

In April 2024, an evacuation drill utilizing "Haru Route" was conducted at an elementary school in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Later, in October, a collaboration agreement was signed with Iruma City, Saitama Prefecture, to incorporate "Haru Route" and related teaching materials at an elementary school in that city. Several municipalities are currently considering adopting this system.
